Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Competitive Edge Tutoring LLC collects and uses information through competitiveedgeportal.com and its tutoring notification program.
Information we collect
We collect information supplied by students, parents or guardians, and authorized staff: names, email addresses, mobile numbers, addresses, school and graduation details, account roles, and student relationships. The portal also stores tutoring materials, homework, test responses, scores, progress, and related activity needed to provide our services. Passwords are stored as hashes, rather than readable passwords.
We keep account access and security records, notification preferences, delivery records, and SMS consent and withdrawal records. SMS consent records include the account, mobile number, selected message categories, date, method, and disclosure version. We record messaging control events such as STOP, START, and HELP.
How we use information
We use this information to operate accounts, provide tutoring and assessments, assign and review homework, prepare reports, support families and staff, deliver requested notifications, maintain security, and respond to support requests. Providing a mobile number alone does not subscribe anyone to texts.
Access and service providers
Educational records are available to the student and authorized administrators, tutors, linked parents or guardians, and counselors according to their account permissions. We use service providers for hosting and storage, email delivery, and text delivery, including Render, Resend, and Twilio. These providers process the information needed to perform those services. Where staff use optional AI-assisted worksheet tools, submitted worksheet content may be processed by the configured provider for that purpose.
We may disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect the safety, rights, and security of our users and services. We do not sell personal information or share mobile numbers for third-party marketing or promotional purposes.
All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information won’t be shared with any third parties.
Your notification choices
Email and SMS preferences are separate. Texts are optional, use initially unchecked Text boxes, and are limited to the categories the recipient selects. Consent is not a condition of purchasing tutoring services. You may turn off categories in Account & notifications or reply STOP to unsubscribe from all texts to that number. Storage, security, and retention
We use authenticated accounts, server-enforced access controls, protected file access, and secure transport on our public portal. No system can guarantee absolute security. We retain information as needed to provide services, maintain appropriate educational and business records, resolve disputes, and meet applicable obligations. Consent and withdrawal evidence is retained to document messaging permissions and honor opt-outs; account or preference changes do not erase that history.
Cookies and external services
The portal uses essential session cookies to keep you signed in. External resources opened from the portal, including calculators and learning materials, are governed by their providers’ privacy policies. We do not use portal SMS consent for advertising or unrelated marketing.
Students, families, and your requests
Student records support tutoring provided with family or guardian involvement where appropriate. Parents or guardians may contact us about a child’s information, access, corrections, or deletion. Any SMS subscription must reflect the permission of the person receiving texts at that number; creating or linking an account does not provide that permission.
To request access, correction, or deletion of your information, email us. We may verify your identity and relationship to the account before acting. Some records may need to be retained to provide requested services, honor an opt-out, or meet legal obligations.
Policy changes
We will post updates here with a revised effective date. Changes to the scope of SMS messaging require appropriate new consent; an update to this policy does not automatically enroll anyone in additional messages.
